International Visitor Leadership Program

Creating a bridge for current and emerging leaders

GlobalND partners with the U.S. State Department to implement its premier professional exchange program, the International Visitor Leadership Program. The IVLP brings current and emerging leaders from a variety of countries and fields to experience America firsthand and to interact with their professional counterparts over a three-week period, often visiting three to four communities throughout the United States. GlobalND has crafted numerous programs in Minot and the surrounding area creating opportunities for international visitors to interact with local professionals in such areas as law enforcement, social services, energy development, media, and government. Visitors have also interacted with county, city, state, and tribal officials as part of their programs.

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders experience the country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their U.S. counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States. IVLP visits are organized by members of Global Ties U.S.

The International Visitor Leadership Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by members of Global Ties U.S.

Our Participants

IVLP participants are nominated by American embassies abroad for travel to the United States. Through professional meetings with their American counterparts, these visitors engage with Americans from all walks of life, exchanging ideas and perspectives, building cross-cultural understanding, and creating future points of collaboration and mutual engagement. There are more than 225,000 IVLP alumni, including over 500 current or former heads of state or government.
