About Us

GlobalND, a non-profit, all-volunteer community-based organization, fosters international relationships and global understanding through people-to-people diplomacy. Part of the Global Ties Network, GlobalND works primarily through the International Visitor Leadership Program of the U. S. State Department.

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders experience the country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their U.S. counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States. IVLP visits are organized by members of Global Ties U.S.

The International Visitor Leadership Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by members of Global Ties U.S.

Our History

GlobalND was founded in 1993 as the Minot Area Council for International Visitors (MACIV) through the cooperation of Minot State University and the surrounding community, including the city of Minot, the Minot Education Association, and the Minot Air Force Base. As a community-based member of Global Ties U.S., GlobalND welcomes visitors through the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to the state of North Dakota. We also receive visitors through the Open World Leadership Center of the Library of Congress and the Trans-Atlantic Media Fellowship Program of the Atlantic Council.
